Cécile Grenier

Cécile Grenier is a researcher at CIRAD and holds a PhD in Plant Genetics. Among her responsibilities, she works to optimize the breeding schemes of CIRAD’s partners involved in research and development projects.

She is a member of the AGAP Institute Joint Research Unit (“Genetic Improvement and Adaptation of Mediterranean and Tropical Plants”), where she conducts research aimed at elucidating the genetic basis of key agronomic traits and supporting varietal development. These research activities address major challenges such as food and nutrition security, climate change, and the promotion of more sustainable agricultural practices.

Over the course of her career, which has been largely dedicated to rice research, she has collaborated extensively with international research institutions, including ten years in Latin America and shorter-term assignments in several countries across Africa, Southeast Asia, and Europe.

Currently, she co-leads a research group of approximately twenty scientists involved in genetics research and varietal innovation.
